    Hi Lili,

I think Reading is in Berkshire and not Hampshire. I may be wrong but although Boundaries have changed a lot, I haven't come across it in Hampshire. If I am wrong I am sure someone will correct me.
" Reading is a town, unitary authority (the Borough of Reading) and urban area in the English county of Berkshire".
Have you treid posting on the request help forum ?

Hi all, I researching the family of Albert Edward Rutt (b. 23 Mar 1895 in St. Mary's, Reading). While I've had great success in tracking their ancestors, I would love to know how the boys came to be in the care of the Reading Union. Albert and his brother were placed in the Reading Union some time between 1901 and 1906. In March 1906, Joseph Rutt Jr was placed into the care of the Barnardo Homes and came to Canada as a Home Boy. In May 1908, Albert was also placed into the care of the Barnardo Homes and also came to Canada as a Home Boy. I am having some difficulty in getting anyone in Reading to respond to my inquiries about the Union during that period. Can anyone help?

    Many thanks, Lili

I will be getting the Portsea ones Braken as I need them myself. I will let you know when I've got them. I also need Southampton ones but I don't know if the dates and parishes will be the same as yours for these yet.

Hi Starlight. it is not so much the certificates just the info I need. I have found family back to15th century and whilst doing so also found distant cousin who is doing a family tree (where most of my info came from) He wants to add places and dates of deaths to make more accurate. He is in Australia so more difficult for him not knowing England I suppose.
Will contact Gillian and see what she has.
    Thanks Bracken x

    Hi Bracken,

I would probably be able to give you the birth and death references of the family so that you can get the certificates if you want. It looks like 3 were born in Portsea and 5 in fareham. As for burials I do not have these dates and there would be several churches in that area. Gillian may have the burial index but I have not had much luck with that for my Hampshire names. I see that she has names in Southsea which is nearer than my research which is based more in the Winchester district.

Hi Starlight, yes this is the same family. There were eleven children!!!! 2 of them called Annabella. The one you mention lived on to marry the other one was born first and from what I can gather died young. Born Dec quarter 1850.
George was the first child born in Wareham 1847 died March quarter 1870.
Do you know where they are buried?
Also the last son Frank born sep. Quarter 1866 in Farham, died Sep.q. 1938 in Southampton. It is his wife Bessie I need info on. As far as I am aware she is buried in Sturminster Newton. Do you have any dates and or details of any of the above.
    Thanks so much, Bracken xx

Hi Bracken, Would this be your Annabella. Born Portsea Dec quarter 1854, died Portsea Mar quarter 1857. Possible siblings Jane & Ann born Portsea.
Portsea is not an area I have records for after 1837.
