Hello everyone. i am researching the Willoughby family from westbromwich. william willoughby moved from Kidlington in Oxfordshire in the mid 1830' s with his wife Ann & possibly 3 children 1 child Marrian could have died just after they came to wesbromwich . Ann died in 1837. i have found william and his sons charles & john in the 1841 census as Willebey. & the 1851 census as waterbury. but i can't find a death for william he is'nt on the 1861 census. i have found the death of Ann in 1837. if william had a pauper's funeral would it have been registered any where. the parish church was All Saint's Westbromwich. many thanks Sue.

    Hello jack.sue

Alice Rolston married Matthew Palfreyman in 1897 at St John's Church, Wednesbury. I've found Alice and Matthew on the 1901 census. You say that you have her on the 1891 census. Is she living with her parents and when was she born? If you can give us her parents this will help in finding her on the 1881 census.

    Hi Notebook

Thanks for the info. I had come up with the same info when I checked the census'.

The certificate I have was obtained from the main GRO - so I am satisfied that the info given about Solomon being the son of Solomon is correct. I am certain that Solomon son of Joseph is a different person - but may be a relative anyway. Once I have been able to find the info on the elder Solomon, and maybe his parents and their children, I'll be able to establish a link.

    Thanks anyway

Thanks too for the link to http://www.bmsgh.org/wmbmd/index.html - already proving interesting and useful

    Hello pipesmoker,

I see from the West Midlands BMD web site www.bmsgh.org/wmbmd/index.html that Solomon Little married Rosanna Abel in 1855 at Christ Church, Quarry Bank. Did you get the marriage information from the Parish Register at Dudley Archives (which is a great place by the way) or did you buy the marriage certificate from Dudley Register Office? If you did get the info from the parish register, there could be a mistake with Solomon's father stated as Solomon rather than Joseph.

On the familysearch web site at www.familysearch.org there is a Solomon Little born 7 November 1829 and baptised on 14 February 1830 at Park Lane Presbyterian, Cradley with parents Joseph & Silva[sic].

I've searched Ancestry.co.uk census from 1841 - 1901 and the only Solomon Little which I could find listed is a son of Joseph & Selvia. If you don't have these censuses I can forward them on to you.

If you haven't got the marriage certificate from Dudley Register Office, I think it may be worthwhile purchasing it as I have found a mistake in the past.

    Hope this helps

    Hi Notebook

My GGGrandfather was Solomon Little, who married in 1855. His marriage certificate shows his father was also Solomon. They were from the Quarry Bank/Dudley area - but I cannot find any trace of Solomon Jnr.'s birth/baptism records (born about 1830-31) - nor anything on Solomon Snr (or any of his ancestors). I was down in the West Midlands area for a few days, and spent the whole of Thursday in Dudley Archives (a great place!) - but did not get anywhere.

Any help you can give would be much appreciated.

There must have been 2 Solomon Littles born in the area in 1830-1831 - one (who is not my GGGrandfather has parents were Joseph and Silva).
