    Hi,
I am an Aussie descended from both free immigrants & dare I say it! Convicts. My mother would be horrified!
I am a mix of English-Sussex, Essex, Suffolk mostly plus Scottish- Dundee,Kirriemuir, Perth, Glasgow, Inverness, Nairn & throw in some Irish-Co. Mayo, Dublin, Belfast.
My husband, whose family I am also researching is a mix of Scottish-Glasgow ( a convict!), English- Chelsea, plus German & Polish very early Lutheran emmigrants.
I am happy to assist with Australian research if anyone needs help. Especially Tasmania & South Australia, but I have BDM CD`s for all states as well as some passenger info etc,etc

Australia is a country of immigrants and maybe that missing ancestor may have made their way 'down under' as a convict (Australian royalty), during the gold rush, or just wanting an adventure. But where do you start looking, especially if your overseas.

This interactive group has been formed not to do any in-depth family research but to assist you with the location of possible research resource sites available in Australia, particularly for those of you based outside Australia and who are registered members of this website.

For example did you realise that a lot of volunteers in WWI serving as English VAD's actually were Australian, or that the Australian War Memorial also holds Australian Red Cross WWI records?

So if you've discovered any great Australian websites or hidden resources how about sharing them with everyone.
