Default Sunderland - monument in Mowbray Park

Please could someone tell me which part of Mowbray Park contains the memorial to the children who died in the Victoria Hall Disaster on 16th June 1883. One of thos who died was my Great-Uncle, aged 8.

I've never been to Sunderland, so I'm collecting as much info as I can in preparation for a visit, probably in the Spring, to enable me to see as many of the places where my father's family lived, and hopefully also to find some of their graves in Bishopwearmouth Cemetery. I'm told that's huge, so I'd need to find out where to look. I'd appreciate it if anyone could give me contact details of where any grave registers might be held.

Thank you.

Are you still looking for info on the monument in Mowbray Park? If you haven't found out I searched for that monument many years ago, it is no longer in the Park nor could I ever find out what happened to it. If you have any more questions I will try to answer

The memorial was repaired and returned to Mowbray Park in 2000 apparently, it is near the temporary entrance from Toward Road, but the park isn't huge so if the entrance is no longer there it shouldn't take too much finding. The memorial faces where the Victoria Hall used to be

Gosh, Forgotten all about this! I visited Mowbray Park last year, the memorial is very easy to find. There are no names - I was disapointed thought there would be a plaque with children's names on.It is quite big and still enclosed in glass.
