Default Philips Park Cemetery

Mike, can you try and locate another headstone for me the next time you are at Philips Park cemetery? You were such a huge help the last time, and I really do appreciate it! If there isn't a headstone, can you get burial records?

Burial Ground is Church of England, section B, grave 1125. Name is Henry Locke, died 1898. His wife's name is Frances, but that is all I know about her.

Please respond to this thread so I can find you!!

Thanks,
Rose

Hi Rose, i am pleased you were happy with the pictures of the graves i sent. I will try and find your Henry' grave next time i go, but this wont be for a while as i only go when i have a lot to photographs to take at Phillip's Park and Gorton. As i don't live near both of thoses cemertry's , it would be a bit of a journey for just one picture . But i will be going back in a few weeks. On a brighter note, here is a little info on your henry for you.

Henry Lock
Buried on the 5th Dec 1898 at Phillip;s park.
Age 58.
Occupation: Greengrocer.
Address 173 Bradford road Ancoats.
Freehold grave. Plot B. 1125.

I will try and find what i can on his wife but a little more details might help?

Don't you just love us britts
Ok found Frances.
She was buried on the 14 may 1900.
All the details same as Henry's ( she is in the same grave ) so when i do get round that way, i hope theres a headstone for you there. All the pictures i took at Phillip's park and Manchester general yesterday ( Harpurhey To us locals ) and not one of my own family could i find a headstone for. Oh! well , some you win some you lose.

I think it means they paid for it out right. They own it. unlike a public garve or poor grave

Unhappy Re: Philips Park Cemetery

Hi Jan, the John Heathcote in Phillip's park is not yours i think?
This one buried 14th Dec 1889 age 66 C-of-E. This John is the one on Ancestry bmd's reg in Prestwich. Yours was registered in Manchester. Sorry i could not find any Heathcote's for jul-aug-sep 1889 Phillip's park. So the one they so on the Manchester burial site is the Dec one if ound.

Beatha agus slainte, Health and long life.

Every day above ground is a good day.
