Hi
I was wondering if anyone lived near BROOKWOOD CEMETERY and would be ever so kind in taking a photo for me please. I know its a bit cheeky but I would love to see the burial ground of my g,g,grandfather and some others buried with him some of which Im not sure if they lay with him or not - the details are as follows.... ELLIS AMOS n/c plot 130 under a kerbing memorial possibly with another ELLIS (son), FRANK (son) MARY ANN (wife) Thanks in anticipation a very cheeky Maz |

Hi Maz,
I havent forgotton i promise, I have to get permission in writing from the cemetery before i am allowed to visit, then i have to get the same for taking photos and such. Can you believe that? i always thought you could just go in and walk about. oh well will let you know when i can get in. Regards Kelly |

hi Kelly
wow - that takes the biscuit! Please dont go out of your way - id hate to put you to any trouble. Sounds alot of hassel If it costs you please either dont do it or let me know how much and we will see if its worth it. I feel guilty now in asking - I too thought it would be the same as most cemeteries where you could just walk in and take photos. I really dont mind if you decide not to go ahead - i wouldnt blame you at all. dont know what else to say love Maz |

Thats interesting , is it because of the damage now being caused
here the lovely headstones have been broken by vandals , some cannot be repaired sadly some very old . |

hi Chris
It could well be, why oh why cant people respect things any more. Its such a shame, but I think I shall remember that before I ever ask anyone a favour in future. I wonder if written permission happens alot now - or is it just London area! Maz |

No Maz Kel will try believe me
i saw brookewood cemetry and wanted to look at graves but it was locked i love to see the old headstones so interesting , many of our members are willing to look so dont let it putt you off. What angers me is vandels like you said why , i think too thats why many are going round transcribing headstones before they are lost for ever. |

I wonder if we can encourage people to transcribe more cemeteries - im certainly going to do my local ones now. Before its too late - is there anywhere where we can say that written permission is required in some cemeteries now so it might encourage people to help each other?
