Jack and Floss Daffurn lived at Fiddington farm for many years with their daughter Joan. Fiddington is a small hamlet of three farms and a sprinkling of cottages a few miles east of Tewkesbury.
I was intrigued that the lane outside the farm was called Monks lane when there are no local ecclesiastical ruins and the lane doesn't appear to lead to any. On research I discovered that the lands at Fiddington formerly belonged to Tewkesbury Abbey and the tenants were charged with the task of providing their dairy produce.
The land was confiscated by king Henry V111 in the 1530's and awarded to two of his favourite musicians.
I would be interested to hear from anyone who knew of the Daffurns or could add anything to the history of Yew tree farm as it was formerly known.
