Hi Starlight
Thanks for looking up Frederick, it does sound about right, but I seem to get more confused. If I told you what I have could you help me please?
I know for sure that Frederick Macready Moore was born NORWICH NORFOLK 1848
I know for sure that he married Mary Ann Bailey 1853 EAST CARLETON NORFOLK
I have just recieved thier marriage certificate which states that he was a SERVANT in NORWICH at the time of their marriage which was 11th October 1872 at EAST CARLETON.
Frederick,s father was Frederick Moore aswell and he was a soldier.
Mary Ann,s father was John Bailey and he was a labourer.
One of the witnesses was HANNAH GRAY of EAST CARLETON and I think I found her in both 1881 and 1901 still living in EAST CARLETON.
What confuses me is that there is no mention of a 3 year old called Frederick living in Norfolk in the 1851 census. I don't know what other county to look in and I don't know if soldiers were even on the census.
I know for sure that Frederick Macready Moore was in Derbyshire 1901 1891 1881 Norwich 1871 and then it seemed like he was on the 1861 as being in Yorkshire.
Any ideas? Love some help.
Thanks again Mandy

Hi Mandy,

There is one Frederick Moore born in Norwich 1848
Jan/Feb/Mar quarter
Volume 13 page 265

If it is the right one, it should give you his father's occupation nearer to 1851. It is possible that he wasn't a soldier at that time. The visitor named Grey (? Mispelt) could be related to Louisa as she was also from Norfolk. I would not be inclined to dismiss this cenus record yet unless someone else can find a better match. The only Emma Gray that I can find in 1841 is a female servant not with her family so I can't say if Louisa and Emma are sisters.
