Thread: Mr. Ross - Surrey

Hello!

From my most wanted: Wybert Comyn Ross, born 15 Oct 1855 in Merstham, Surrey, and died 23 Jul 1942 in Corryong, Victoria. He arrived in Australia in the 1870s (have not yet been able to pin him down here either!).
I recently purchased his marriage certificate, which gave his parents as Lionel Comyn Ross, Gentleman, and Mary Eveline Paget.
I am hoping his father's status might make them easier to track down!

Would love to know if anything looks promising!

i can see references to him after 1901 in australia and also his death ref.

Also found this (but dont have ancestry worldwide to look at it)

You say that you haven't been able to pin down Wybert in Australia. Does that mean you haven't got him at all there ?

I have found this on several electoral registers from 1903:- Wybert Comyn RossCivil: 1903 - Corryong, Indi, Victoria

Over their hes got him its his birth over here ect. Ive tried to find him on census but nothing , the 1861 one.

i too have looked for him in england on census and cant find anything at all. with finding a reference to lionel ( either father or possibly a younger relation) in usa I am wondering if they went to australia via america.

Yeah, like Chris said, it's the things at 'your end' that I need info on. Here I've got newspapers snippets, Electoral Roll info, etc., but am lacking those early years. I meant I haven't been able to find his immigration to Oz

Does anyone have ancestry worldwide? To check out the US one's welshlady found? And those from Australia, are they just electoral roll entries, or was there something I missed?

Hi Bazza,

I have tried the passenger lists to Australia via USA with no luck. Have you tried the out going UK passenger lists. I only have incoming.

I can not find the Refence to him in the USA but if Welsh Lady can tell me what section she found him in I will look again. The only ones I can see on any census records were born in the USA.
