Thread: William Henry Furniss on OZ passenger lists

I'm trying to locate William's return to England from Australia around 1938 and his subsiquent return to Australia as he died in Sydney in 1945. I've tried Ancestrys incoming list but that only has his return in 1929 to England and no other.

Hi Andrew

There is an outgoing Passage for a William H Furniss b 1891, occupation given as Actor, leaving Southampton on 30 May 1930 to sail to Sydney Australia on board the Hobsons Bay.

I have tried from 1930 to 1945 and this is the only one I can see.

Hi Raven,
Thats deffinatly him. I have a passenger list which states he came back to England arriving 5 May 1929 aboard Largs Bay so that looks like it could be his return journey. I also have a document that says he left Austraila, i presume for England, around May 1938 so i'm wondering if the dates may have been wrong.
Does the list give any details of a wife as he married in October 1929.

I have put a search in for a female Furniss departing for Australia between the years 1926 - 1932 but none of the results coincide with William.. sorry

I think whoever wrote up the passenger list mucked up.. I checked on findmypast.com and there is only one relevent entry and its listed as A H Furniss. If its him maybe he went overland from Adelaide?
