Thread: 1851 Census look up please

Hello,

I am looking for John Brickell bapt 1791 Motcombe, Dorset in 1851 census with his wife Elizabeth and family, I have looked on Dorset OPC for Motcombe, but they aren't there in 1851, I have the family in 1841 and 1861 and they were living in Motcombe, Dorset on both censuses. Can someone help me please?

Hi Tina, John with wife Elizabeth was enumerated on 41 and 61 census born 1797. The John on census enumerated born 1791 has wife Mary.

I too have found John Brickell age 48 Occupation stone mason born Shaftesbury.
Wife Elizabeth age 47 born Motcombe.
Sometimes in the past people gave their incorrect ages for a good reason or the enumorator might have simply written their ages incorrectly or the ages were written incorrectly when transcribed.
