Hi Raven sorry giving a date would have helped ... Catherine/kathy was born 1905 so probably around 1880. Thank you

Hi Kari,

Could this be the one?

James Mays (sic) Ives, 1864 Oct-Dec. Swaffham, Norfolk. Vol 4b page 373.

Hi Slizzy I looked at that but i wasn't sure if that was him or not , i finally found his marriage so maybe he was 38 when he got married. So as it seem's the only james Mayes Ives it must be him. Thank you so much for your help.

Hi Kari,

The only way to know for sure is to buy his marriage cert, as the cert would of course give his age. Do you know when Edith was born?

No unfortunately i don't Slizzy all it shows on my grandmother's birth certificate is edith ives, mother, formerly wagg , kensington. I will look at the census again and maybe i can place james and her together in the same area. And also you put James Mays (sic) Ives What does the (sic) mean? Thank you

Hi Kari,

Sic. indicates the spelling may be wrong, as in Mayes MAYS.

I did find n the 1901 census a James Ives born c.1864 living in London. Don't remember if it was Kensington..........and have to go to work now, but I'm sure you'll be able to find him. Good luck
