Hi Pauline, Ashurst does seem to be a popular name around Stockport.
I have tried to find the family together on the census but nothing.
How did you happen to know the parents surnames without their Christian names ?
Nothing coming up on a search for a marriage with just the surnames.
One of the children's Birth certificates would be your best bet for getting the parents names and the fathers occupation.

Jane.

Hi Lizanne

A lot of the BMD sites are now adding the parents maiden name, not all areas or counties are completed. I found Charles on the Free BMD Site. Then I went to the Cheshire BMD Site for the same year and Lo and Behold his mother's maiden name had been added Irving although next to one of Charle's sibblings it says Ervin. But I tried both spellings and got no results.
Perhaps it's like one of my other ancestors and had been married before

I guess I will have to send for the birth certificate to make headway on this one. Thanks Lizanne.
