I’m enquiring on behalf of a grandson of Frederick George Tilley who, in about 1930 – 1935, bought an old house in Holme Hale near Thetford, Norfolk. The house had originally been two cottages (date of change unknown) and was immediately opposite the ParishChurch (C of E) and Frederick George Tilley lived there with his wife.
The Land Registry cannot help with any information as I have been unable to provide the Title Number or an actual address. I would really appreciate any help with this; perhaps a member knows this village and could have a look. To progress further, I need:

Hello Pam,
Firstly, I don't know the area of Holme Hale, but I've just done a google search and if it's the right Church, it's St Andrew's on Church Road, Holme Hale, Norfolk. If you contact Norfolk Record Office, again by googling "Norfolk Record Office" click on No. 9 "Tracing the history of your house" it explains how to do this. Most Record Offices/Archives hold documents such as electoral rolls, valuation lists, maps etc. that could help you further. Hope this helps. Notebook |

Hi there, Notebook!
Thanks for your interest. Firstly, I don't know the area of Holme Hale, but I've just done a google search and if it's the right Church, it's St Andrew's on Church Road, Holme Hale, Norfolk. Yes, that's what I thought. If you contact Norfolk Record Office, again by googling "Norfolk Record Office" click on No. 9 "Tracing the history of your house" it explains how to do this. Sorry, done that too and, unfortunately, I always come up against the same problem - without a specific address, I'm stuck. Most Record Offices/Archives hold documents such as electoral rolls, valuation lists, maps etc. that could help you further. I'm not able to make a personal visit to Holme Hale to identify the property nor to go to the Record Office and trust to bulldog tenacity and luck! So, thanks again for the try; perhaps someone else will be in a position to 'spot' it for me. |
