Default Great Aunt Emmie in Canada

Would anyone be able to help find my great aunt Emily Jupp nee Rich? She emigrated to Canada around 1950 to 1960s with her daughter Florence. She followed her two daughters Joyce Flood nee Jupp and Doris Mallows nee Jupp who both (I think) married Canadian servicemen in the 1940s in the UK.

Emmie was born c1895 probably Peckham (Camberwell)

I'd very much like to know when she and the girls died or when they emigrated, anything in fact.

I believe they lived in Ontario.

Many thanks

there is a Florence Jupp b1928 going to Halifax, Canada in 1949 from Liverpool and again one b1928 going to Montreal, Canada from Liverpool in 1952.
In 1952 going to Montreal from Liverpool in 1952 there is a Doris E Jupp.

These are from Find my Past... but can't see an Emmie or and Emily Jupp..

I'm a little confused now. Florence's birth fits but I know she didn't emmigrate in 1949 as I was born that year and can, as a young child, remember her reasonably well as I do my aunt Emily. Could the trip to Halifax in 49 be just that? a trip to visit her sisters perhaps?
Doris also seems to fit but she married in UK and I would have thought emmigrated under her married name. As far as I know she married in 1945.

Unfortunately, there's no one left in the family to ask for more information, so I haven't even any idea if Montreal is the right place.

I would guess that Emily died in the late 50s to early 60s

Thank you for your help though

PS I missed the 1952 Montreal trip. Perhaps my childhood memories are playing tricks. I would have been about three but I remember her quite well. I was sure I was older than that.

HI Elanter,

I have found the registration for Doris' marriage..

Doris Jupp 1945 4th Qtr
Spouse: Mallows
District: Southwark
Vol 1d
Pg 2

I only looked on the lists... I don't know what the actual image says sorry as it takes 30 units on Find My Past to look at them

I have also checked for a Doris Mallows going to Canada between the years 1940 and 1960 and can find none...

I have found 3 possibles for Joyce

FLOOD Joyce Unknown 1946 Liverpool Canada Canada
FLOOD Joyce 1925 F 1950 Liverpool Canada Quebec
FLOOD Joyce 1925 F 1955 Liverpool Canada Montreal

I think you might be right about the 1949 one being a trip...

Many thanks Raven,

At least I'm on the right trail. But 30 units just to take a look? that sounds expensive.

Could I ask you one more favour only if you don't have to pay to look.

I had another relative who in 1901 sailed to Egypt on the Saru Mawa (something like that). I'd like to know if he was alone or took any family. I can't imagine why on earth he went there though.

Thanks again

Erm......... Might be useful if you knew his name William Hollylee

William Hollylee b 1901
sailed from London on the 27th Aug 1927 on board the Suwa Maru a Japanese registered ship under N Gotoh (master). He was sailing to Port Said Egypt. His occuption is given thus... 15/19 Hussars..

Looks like your William was in the Army, Elanter...

Many thanks for this.

I just can't imagine any of my lot being able to afford a holiday to somewhere like Egypt so perhaps he was going out there with the army. How interesting.

Once again thanks for all the information, if there's anything I can look up let me know. I don't have access to overseas stuff though and I'm a bit miffed because I now have to pay extra for Pallots and the 1530-1906 christening and marriage records which I had before on my subscription.

Thanks again
