Thread: Mc Donald family in South Australia

Looking for information on my ancestral grandparents John & Mary Mc Donald. This couple both born in Argyll Scotland in the 1820's, married in 1841 also in Argyll and they had 5 children. John 1841, Alex 1842, Janet 1844, Mary 1846 and Donald 1849.- Argyll. The family migrated to Australia, eventually settling in South Australia before 1864. Janet married in Kapunda SA in 1864. Have no other information on the family. Any help would be appreciated. I have no arrival or ship. But I believe John jnr and Donald married in Adelaide in the 1860's

Hi Helen - I think you already have them on census 1841-61. Could you say what you are hoping to find? I thought John & Mary were born earlier than 1820s?

The original couple I thought were the ones were born in 1801 and 1811, but more research has shown that John and Mary were the parents of John who was born in 1821. He also married a Mary Mc Donald in 1841 ( oh! so confusing) I am trying to find family in SA now.
