Thread: Looking for Patience Blandford

Hi,

I am looking for Patience Blandford who was born 1779. I have her marriage to a William Lucas in Donhead St.Andrew in 1806 and I have her burial details (1820 age 41 Donhead St.Andrew) I also know that they were Roman Catholic. The catholic records do not show a Patience Blandford and there is nothing listed in Donhead St.Andrew and Donhead St. Mary baptisms, the only other place I can think of that she may have been born was Tisbury. Could someone please help me try and find her place of birth.

It might be worth trying to look up (or get someone to look up) the original marriage entry if you have not already done so - it is just possible it will have some additional information eg witnesses
Check 1841 census for any parishes with Blandfords - particularly any about the same age as Patience would have been who could have been siblings. You are looking for somewhere probably near to Donhead and not on the IGI
If you come up with any possibilities then ask for look ups

Hi Gillian,

Thanks very much for the advice, I have a copy of the marriage but the witnesses are not related. I have also searched through the 1841 census on freecen and have got several Blandford names of about Patience'es age group and apart from Donhead St.Andrew & St.Mary which I have already searched through there are a few parishes that she may likely have been born in.
Would you be kind enough to have a look through East Tisbury please there is a Samuel who was born abt 1781 Ag. Lab. and there are 2 John Blandfords one born abt 1786 and the other 1791 both Ag. Lab.

I would be most grateful if you could do this for me when you aren't too busy.

Sorry Tina - have had no luck in finding Patience. Had a look in the neighbouring parishes I have access to (Semley & Berwick St John) but she wasn't there. I think it needs a day at the Wiltshire records office!

Thanks very much for your efforts. Yes I think it does need a day at Wilts Record Office. It doesn't help much knowing she's Catholic as I have already been in contact with the appropriate Priest covering Donhead St.Andrew but had no luck there either.
