Exclamation Kenny

Kenny family - Leeds

William Kenny b c 1865 (Father William)
married in 1887 St Saviours Church to
Sarah Jane Evans b c 1866 (Father James mother Hannah)

Hannah 1888
Christiana 1890
Arthur 1898
Alice 1892
Albert 1900
James Wilfred 1904

The 1891 census has the family living at Bow Street (calling themselves McKenna)

The 1901 census has the family living at Judsons Yard

unable to trace William further back, but Sarah Jane Evans can be traced back easier.

Any info would help me as I believe that although my father James Wilfred moved to Devon there are still Kenny family in the Leeds area

Hi Chriskenny,

I wonder did the name evolve to Kenny over time? Maybe the 1891 census was correct and Mckenna was the family's original surname. Margaret is a widow.

1871 Census.

Name: William McKenna Age: 7 Estimated Birth Year: abt 1864 Relation: Son Mother's Name: Margaret Gender: Male Where born: Leeds, Yorkshire, England Civil Parish: Leeds Ecclesiastical parish: St Luke Town: Leeds County/Island: Yorkshire Country: EnglandRegistration district: Leeds Sub registration district: North Leeds

The same family in 1861 - with father William.

Many thanks for the info

The names certainly fit in with my family

I have sisters whose second names are Margaret & Mary.

I just assumed that McKENNA was a mistake but perhaps you are correct in thinking that Kenny has just evolved over time.

Thanks

H,i do you have William junior's marriage certificate, and if so does it state his father's occupation, and whether he's deceased?

Also just realised that in 1887 when William married Sarah Jane the marriage cert states father of groom named William but deceased.

I think you may have solved a big mystery as to why they could not be found anywhere. Again mant thanks.

How about father's occupation? Was he a cooper or similar?
