Question 1871 english census lookup

Hi All
Nice simple task for my first request. Would some kind one look up Richard Cherry in 1871.

He was 28yrs of age
Born in Blackburn
Living in Swanland, Kirk Ella, E. Yorks.
Married to :- Ann E Cherry age 26
Daughter :- Ann age 1

This is Richard's first marriage (which I didn't know about till recently), Ann E died the following year, and Ann died in 1881. But for these sad events I wouldn't be here as my grandmother was the product of Richard's second marriage. Now I've decided that I want to know more about this first wife, so all I want to know is *****where was she born *******
Then I can start searching for their marriage.

Many Thanks

Pete

Hi
Thanks Welshlady, as you guessed, I got my info from the census but I didn't see the original image, so I didn't know where Ann was born. So it was Hull I was hoping it was somewhere else, I've already checked Yorkshire BMD for the marriage without success, guess I'll have to join Ancestry again. As for Richard living with uncle in 1861 (he was there in 1851 too) that's another puzzle I haven't solved - what happened to his parents ?
Once again thanks for the info, much appreciated.

Pete

Post Re: 1871 english census lookup

Hi Welshlady
Just gone through marriages 1862-1872 on BMD index co & no marriage there, I'll have to go to Hull & search there.
Yes Richard's parents are in the 1841 census. They were Thomas & agnes Cherry with 1 son Thomas. They were living in Blackburn, Lancs. I even know they were married at Manchester Cathedral on 3/11/1835. Their daughter was born in 1845 in Preston, somewhere between then & 1851 disaster struck & the kids finished up with uncle Septimus in Hull. Agnes could conceivably ? have died in childbirth. I would avoid this one like the plague if I were you good lady !!!!! Thanks for checking on Ancestry

Cheers

Pete
