I have previously posted regarding this subject, but I was looking for census info then.
I am looking for a marriage between William Nichols and a Maria ![]() They are on the 1861 census under Nichol. Both born Middlesex. William bc 1804, Maria c 1813 according to 61 census. William is a basket maker, Maria a nurse, I know William was unmarried on the 51 as he was living with his brother, Peter. I have seached extensively for the marriage, c 1851-1861 and have discounted the following from ancestry.co.uk: Maria - Bentley, Flack (which is Hack on IGI) and Marie Rosenthal Von Courcy. It does look like Maria on the 61 census. How come when I want to order a cert I have so much trouble (are the fates conspiring against me ![]() I would really appreciate any help so I may be able to order the cert and then progress. Thanks very much, regards, digger |

Hi Digger, I have the same trouble
![]() Found these but its hard as they could have married anywhere and Nichols is so easy to wrongly transcribe, William Nicholls and on the same page a Maria Sherwin, Mar q 1857, vol 1a page 517 Marylebone.. William Nichols and on the same page Maria Eley, Mar q 1857, vol 4a page 819 Woodbridge..Good luck with it ![]() |
