Can anyone please help to locate the above.
He married Ada Hollamby in Pancras in 1877. They had 3 children, all born Kentish Town. Jane born 1879, Frank born 1875 and Henry born 1887. On the census from 1881 he is not living with Ada and children. Ada is shown as married on census up to 1901. By 1891 the children ar living with an uncle in Ecclesall Bierlow then mother Ada joins them in 1901. In 1901 Jane married Henry Woodruffe in Ecclesall Bierlow and on her certificate is gives her father as deceased, Commercial Traveller. Frank married Cissie Vernon about the same time and place. Looks ike a double wedding. Kind regards, Calmar ![]() |

Hello Calmar,
A few questions. Do you have the marriage certificate of Ada Hollamby and William Henry Palmer and, do you have at least one birth certificate or baptism entry for any of their children Jane, Frank and Henry? On Jane's marriage to Henry Woodruffe and Frank's marriage to Cissie Vernon, does it give their father's name or just deceased? I've located Ada Hollamby/Palmer on all the censuses, but on the 1891 census Ada Par(l)mer is living with her widowed mother Elizabeth Hollamby and Ada is listed as Single. I'm asking these questions as I've had a similar situation where the mother wasn't actually married to the person she said she was. Notebook |

Hi Notebook,
I have the actual marriage certificate for Jane to Henry Woodruffe, as Henry is one of my direct decendants. It gives her fathers name as William Henry Palmer, deceased. I haven't looked for her birth entry yet or any other of the other children. Just starting on this family with marriage certificate for Jane. Will go an have a look for it now! I too have a similar situation with my great grandfather not actually being married to his wife and then going on to marry defintely someone else!! Hi Slizzy,
Thank you for that info. I will try and find him on other census and see what else it shows for him. It does seem strange that this couple are not together on any of the census! Perhaps his death might gives us a clue. Regards, Calmar ![]() |
