ancesTree William Orton/Oughton b1786, Farmer, Barnacle

I posted this just 10 minutes or so ago, but I didn't see it show up on the board, so I don't know if I submitted it properly or not. Didn't even show up on my subscribed threads, so I am submitting it again, apologise if it is a dupe.

Looking for the parents of William Orton, born 1786, a farmer, of the hamlet of Barnacle, in Bulkington. He married a Sarah (Harper?), born 1776 as per 1841 census. They had two children (possibly more) Ann born 1811 and a William born 1812.

He is listed on the Freeholders of Warwickshire list of 1820. Am looking to find out his parents, so I can trace back further, as well as laterally for his siblings.

Any information would be most appreciated. His last name could also be spelled Horton, Haughton, Oughton and Orton.

(resolved poss dupe: had too may tags, so didn't go through the first time)

I think you may need to add Overton to your list of possible variations. I have just found a will of Richard Orton in Nuneaton who mentions property in Barnacle and I am pretty sure his brothers children are the family I have as Overtons. Details are on my web site
http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~richardkendellfamily

and I suspect your missing John (born before 1799 when his father died) may be the son of William and Mary who gets a mention in his fathers will but I have not as yet found a christening.

Richard
