Default Has anyone else had problems with Family Tree Maker?

I've had Family Tree Maker 2008 for a couple of months now, and its been working fine up until yesterday afternoon when I tried to load it and it came back with an error message: "Family Tree Maker has encountered a problem and needs to close" - oh dear.

I've looked elsewhere for help, and followed advice about reinstalling, .Net Frameworks etc, but nothing seems to be working, and I'm still getting the same error message. Even worse is the fact that all of my data is on there, and I haven't got all of it backed up yet.

Hope someone can help!!!

Thanks

I managed to fix mine after much huffing and puffing last night, it turned out to be a rather simple solution - I disconnected from the internet while I reinstalled, preventing the automatic registration as well as stopping the download of the latest update, and it started up right as rain. As you say, perhaps it is to prevent it being passed on..
