Hi All

I was wondering what is the best genealogy program to do my family tree in. I am using PAF at the moment. Any recommendations on software programs.

Hi Tanja,

I am not in the position to advise you on a tree maker as the one I have used the last 17 years has been updated and isn't the same as the one I use.

What ever you do decide on, make sure you backup your information regularly. Last week my computer shut itself down and I was informed by Norton that a file had corrupted. When I restarted files were being thrown out and then backed up. Since then I have only found one thing missing - my tree maker was empty and my gedcom blank. I was lucky as I had my gedcom on another site and was able to import a gedcom from there. I could easily have lost the lot.

Well as i am a freebie sort of person, here are two i know are free. One you can use on and off line and the other can only be used on line. first the on/off line one. Down load the standard edition. You can add as many photo's as you like to this one free.

Next the on line only one. this one can be pass word protected, so you only let who you want see it and no one can get info or pictures off it. You can add up to 50 picture to your tree free, after that you have to pay. check both of them out and see which you like best. I have both, i use them, sort of back up for any reason.

Hope this helps?
