Hi Pauline,

Don't worry, I can always pretend I was descended from the other brother. I must have a tiny bit of the same blood :- http://www.ancestryaid.co.uk/boards/showthread.php?t=1377

Well I haven't had a reply from the Landlord and Landlady of the Horse and Dragon. It's been over a week now.

Maybe they think I'm after a share of the pub

Hi Pauline1,

I wouldn't give up hope just yet. There has just been a bank holiday and the pub was probably busy. They could be trying to gather information for you.

Hi starlight, thankyou for your reply. I'll give it another 3 weeks and hopefully I will get a reply. I know the saying is patience is a virtue, so I guess I'm going to have to wait.

Hi Pauline,
Every success with your project, maybe we all could do this like Mary say's.
I don't have any publican's that I know of in my family, but I did write to the current holder of the farmstead my ancestor's had in the Isle of Man and they very kindly sent me two or three photo's of it as it is now, looking away from and toward's the family home, they even invited me to call there whilst visiting the island (which I haven't done yet, but will do soon).
Let us know how things go.

Hi nanna, thankyou for your reply, as soon as I receive a reply you guys will be the first to know, cause if it wasn't for this website and helpful members I certainly wouldn't have known my ancester was an inn keeper as well as a farmer. It's quite exiting really.

I wish you luck with your invitation nanna and do keep us updated, it's so nice to hear of success stories.

Regards.

Still no word from The George and Dragon. However I emailed the Cheshire County Council for info and they have past on my email to the Cheshire archives.

I also found a forum and apparently the public house as had quite a number of managers over the past few years. I just wondered if the pub was haunted

Hi Mollie, I did think of cotacting the brewery If I knew what ale they sold in Cheshire. I tried google but couldn't find any address or email address to contact them

Considering I sent an S.A.E. with the letter it's a bit naughty of them not to send a reply back.

Maybe they think I'm after owning the pub LOL. Don't think so.
Couldn't be doing with throwing drunks out at closing time.

PMSL Pauline.....try land registry for address or lease holder.....someone has what you want......landlady or landlord may not be that interested cos they only running the place................ask the locals if you are in the area. If not contact old cheshire breweries.....there must be lots and in particular one that owned your ancestral alehouse............good luck mate.......ps................find out who supplies the ale then take it from there
