I made comment in the chat room about finding my grandfather and it was suggested to do an online white pages search (oz phone books) and see if he comes up
well it came down to 5 names and today I rang them, the last number that I rang was answered by a lady and she said that "he" was out at the moment and she would speak to him about my request. this evening I rang back and I spoke to "the man of the house" I have been told that my grandfather is not interested in contact with us and as I hung up the phone the thought occurred to me that I might of been actually speaking to my grandfather So this is a notice to all searchers that not all family is interested in their descendants (and yes I am a little upset but I can deal with it , it is all a part of life)Frankie |

What a sad end to a successful search Frankie. I don't think I'd have had the courage to ring those numbers.
If you now have the address you could leave it a month or two - send a short note and a couple of photos & leave it at that. You have then done what you can. As you say, not every relative wants to be found & an unexpected contact can be a shock - especially to someone elderly who may be less adaptable Better luck with any future searches Gillian |

Awww that's real sad Frankie, It could be just a shock reaction on his part, as Gillian said send him a letter with a couple of photo's and that way the balls in his court.
I wish you luck with that one Frankie. ![]() |

He was given a chance to be in contact with us 20 years ago when my sister was born and he wernt interested then and seems still not interested now, so ... thats his loss. he has 4 beautiful great grand kids that he knows nothing about as i didnt even mention them on the phone
the gentleman i spoke to said that he knew my grandfather but i think it might have been him. i respect that he is not interested in us but i asked if i could leave my details with him so that when (and i said i don't want it to happen) he passed away, if his kids were interested in contact with us that here were my details so they could contact me i hope that one day i get a call or a letter Frankie |

Oh how sad you must feel Frankie, but these things happen. I hope your Grandfather has time to reflect on his decision and makes contact with you very soon, in the meantime all you can do is hope. Whatever you do don't give up...
