Your more than welcome Slizzy, it has been fun and gave me a bit of a break from my family which is taking on the appearance of War and Peace. I still have a long way to go with mine as I know one rellie has over 110,000 names in her tree. Mine is still only around 70,000. Because people were trying to populate a new country and they were pretty prolific breeders we have family links with nearly every old family in New South Wales going back to the first fleet. All my immediate family were free settlers but married into convict families. I only have a couple of brickwalls one being a family history that my Great Grand Aunt was related to Archbishop Daniel Mannix (Archbishop of Melbourne). Considering Daniel Mannix baptized her grandson who was being named after Daniel in 1923 he travelled from Melbourne Victoria to Orange in country New South Wales (about 3 days by steam train) it seems that family history could be correct. Just can't find the connection which we think is back in Tipperary and not Australia.

The other is my mother's mother's father. Max Christoff Martin Lenz supposedly born in Hoff Bavaria. The family bible says he was a sailor. I can only find his marriage and the births of 5 daughters. He seems to have disappeared around 1908 and his wife remarried in 1912. I have her family going back to 1757 in Cheshire but nothing on Max or Martin as he was known.

Chris if you had any family that came to Australia, especially NSW, Victoria or Queensland it is more than likely that we are related knowing my family. I am related to BigDon which we found out in the chat room one day. My main family names are Cummins, Heffernan, Renshaw (Ireland) Cooper(Kent), Stecher, Flory (Germany), Wilson (Cheshire), Lenz (Bavaria), Thorley (Staffordshire), Jurd or Judd (London) and Asplet.(Jersey).

So he spent some time in Victoria as well as Beechworth is in Victoria. Unfortunately I am missing the cd 1914-1920 for Victoria.

Kate,

I so wish I could help you with your brickwalls, unfortunately I don't have access to German records, or Irish ones. I do however wish you the very best of luck in making them (the brickwalls) tumble.

I've spent a lot of time today looking through the 'Simon Hargreaves' file you sent me, there's so much, and I am absolutely thrilled. A massive thank you again.

Thanks Slizzy,

I just hope there is a lot of information there that you did not have. Believe me I had fun doing it. I found quite a few under different spellings which is probably why other researchers did not find them. It appears that sometimes the e got dropped from their name.

If you get a chance if you could look and see if you can find Mary Hargreaves b c 19 April 1640 Hainworth Bingley Yorkshire father Richard mother unknown. Had a brother Richard b Bingley Yorkshire. Mary married Richard Waddington b 23 March 1635 Armithole Bingley Yorkshire parents Costin Waddington and Margaret Widdop. Richard and Mary married 14 February 1666 Bingley Yorkshire.

Richard Hargreaves married Richard Waddington's sister Margaret b 8 March 1646 Armithole Bingley Yorkshire on the 5 July 1666 in Bingley Yorkshire and see if they may be linked to your Hargreaves family.

Don't go out of your way to do this I would just like to see if yours are linked to mine. Unfortunately it seems to be a very common name in Yorkshire.

Thanks Kate

I certainly will look Kate. It would be wonderful if there is a connection, as then we could both add lots more names to our trees.

Thanks Slizzy,

I know that with my 2 Hargreaves there is a 5 page Descentant Chart. But I also have Hargraves without the e as well and they are closely linked to me being related to my Dumbrell family which I have back to the late 1400's in Sussex. So there could be a lot more names.

Hi Kate,

I'm not ignoring you, but this could take some time to work out. At the moment I've not managed to establish a connection, but I'll continue searching. My Hargreaves were from the North Owram area, which borders Halifax/Bradford.

My gggrandfather emigrated to the U.S, and over there his name was, and still is spelt Hargraves, no E, I'm in touch with descendants of him, and his second wife over there.

I'm still perusing all the names you sent me, and can't tell you how thrilled I am, it would make my day to find we have a connection, as then I would feel I've gone some way to repaying you for your help and kindness.

Best wishes.
