On this day 5 Nov 1605, Guy Fawkes sought to destroy the Housee of Lords and kill the King. we continue to this day to light bonfires to celebrate the fact that the King survived. Children build effergies of Guy Fawkes, the Guy, and throw him onto the fire. The rhyme of my childhood now much forgotten.
"Remember, remember the fifth of November,
Gunpowder treason and plot.
We see no reason
Why gunpowder treason
Should ever be forgot"

On this date in history for November 6th 1988 Poland Solidarity leaders threaten wide protests
and strike action if the government does not reverse its decision in regards to closing the
Lenin Shipyard in Gdansk.

King Edward V11 was born in 1841..Born Albert Edward at Buckingham Palace the son of Queen Victoria
and Price Albert of Saxecoburg and Gotha. Upon his Mother's death 22nd January 1901, Edward became King
of the United Kingdom..King Edward died on May 6th 1910..His funeral on May 20th was held two weeks later..

Smokey was an American black bear who was orphaned by a New Mexican forest fire . He became the national symbol for fire prevention.
