looking for william battensby who on census says comes from trimdon born about 1819

Which census do you have him on and do you have the reference number? Do you have any other info?

I have done a search and not found William Battensby from Trimdon. The nearest I found was a William Battensby b.1819 in Greatham, Hartlepool, which is not too far away from Trimdon. I should know my rellies come from that part of the world and I lived in Fishburn (next village to Trimdon) when I was a baby.

The name is Battensby and not Battersby isn't it?? Although I did search for him under both names.

William Battensby birth 1819 Trimdon Durham , Death 1891 West Ham Essex England Father WILLIAM BATTENSBY .

Found William with Ann on 1851 census he is aged 28 andAnn 22, occupation is Book Maker. Living in St George in the East, Middx.

1861 census -

William and Ann with family - William aged 7 Ann aged 5 Elizabeth aged 4 and John aged 1, again living in same place and same occupation.

Marriage info - Dec 1850 St George East ref no - 2 96

William Battensby - Ann Sarah Buss

I cant find him in 1841 or birth records for durham so am stuck on going any further back!

On 1891c West Ham Union Workhouse
William Battensby age 72 Inmate Widow Shoemaker ret ( retired ?)so maybe it was Bootmaker not Bookmaker .

thanks I was sure he was born in trimdon which was a mining village and his father was a william battensby

First census is 1851 up to 1891 the year he died he was called battensby and his father was william battensby
married dec 1850 st george in east middlesex to ann sarah buss

I'll keep looking but all i found was his birth date, Trimdon and Fathers name . Maybe he was in Middlesex as an apprentice around 1841 c as that is where he married Ann !
