Hello Folks

The marriage was registered in Newtownards 1876 Volume 16, page 1141 (bride’s surname appears on the LDS site as Dorrian, rather than Dornan). If you obtain a copy of that cert, it should give you Agnes’s father’s name, and her townland (address) both of which will help trace her background. It was tradition to marry in the bride’s church, so you may be able to trace her siblings in the church records.
Statutory recording of births only started in Ireland in 1864 so you won’t get a birth cert for her.
Thanks Elwyn for your reply.
I have a copy of the 1876 handwritten "Marriage Certificate" and it can be appreciated why there may be some confusion as to Dornan and Dorrian - it is not all that clear. However, as one of the offspring had Dornan as one of his forenames it is considered that Dornan is the name in question.
As regards the bride's father I have established that his forename was Hugh, but nothing as to where he lived. The residence of the bride is stated but it is believed that this location relates to where she was domiciled as she was in service at the time of her marriage.
