Could The Lady Marion ask for some help please..I am searching for information on a Mary Vivian Davies born March Qtr 1854 Redruth R.D. Vol 5c Page 292..I have ordered the birth cert in question and I am hoping she will turn out to be the daughter of George Davies and Mary White..I may have found her for 1871 surname mistranscribed as Davis age 17 years staying with the Cock families at Gwithian as a servant but I am not sure if this is my Mary Vivian or not.? If anyone could help me locate Mary in the census it would be greatly appreciated..Also a marriage and a death please..

I will have a look for you Marion. I have found a couple of possible marriages but not sure about them.

Thank you Lola..The deaths by the way in Wales for 1926 Cardiff Glamorganshire and another for John v Davies death 1915 age 60 Merthyr Tydfil Glamorganshire were a no go but thank you for sending them through..They were born in Wales..

Well I do think that is your Mary Davis in GWITHIAN, Reg dist REDRUTH, in 1871 a servant with Charles Cock and family( Rg10, piec 2329, Folio 50 page 10 in Care of TNA.)
Birth date fits, place of birth Illogan. I cannot see any other that fits so well,
After that is difficuly. Not yet found the marriage.
But 1881 a Mary Doe, married to John Doe, a coker, in Glamorgan Wales. Age fits, birth Cornwall. .Children born Glamorgan.
With her a mother MERCY? Davies aged 53 born Cornwall.
By 1891 same family bur Mary Davies now aged 63 mother in law is still with them but both mother and daughter born Poorkilles? Cornwall.
1901 same family and more children , mother in law dead? and Mary now born Hillston(Helston)
1911 not found yet.

When did Mary Davies nee White die? Was it before 1871 do you know?

Hi Lola, Very many thanks for all your help..From one of my contacts its believed Mary Davies Nee White died about 1860..The Workhouse record has no mention of her being with her children one of them my Great Grandfather for 1861..In 1871 George Davies (Davis) is down as Widow on the Census..

I have just checked the 1861 census for George Davies/Davis and he is down as Widow aged 50 years..Living with him are his two sons Thos (Thomas)12 and Geo (George).

Not her in wales then. Already dead. And yes George was a widow by 1861. I was trying to remember as notes were in other room. Mary Davies nee White was with the children at some stage in workhouse as she gave birth to them there(certainly to Mary). When you get further certs you may find siblings born there too.
Workhouse records are at Record Office Truro! Have to take a look. Maybe in Spring if not before.

Lola, I find when I am editing I have to click on advance twice.When you are able to visit the Record Office is fine by me..I also agree that in regards to Mary Vivian Davies that it is her with the Cock family down as Servant for 1871..I just wish I could locate her after 1871..Thanks for all your help

Edit was working fine up until yesterday but thanks for tip anyway. I would like to know what Mary died of. Looked for another baby birth and death to tie in with her but no luck. Two deaths are possibles and both in Redruth in 1860 one aplqr and the other Oct qr. If only she'd been Seraphina instead of Mary.
