Default james martin + margaret vray

    hi all
I'm looking for info on the above. they had a son, james born 1807 in cornwall.

james b 1807, married a mary ann martin in
Perranarworthal 1828, and Sarah Evans in about 1848.

james came to australia in the 1870's

Vray is an unusual surname, i think, has anyone got an ideas?

    regards margaret

Hi marg b and welcome to AA,

Could James have been born nearer to 1802? There's this baptism with mother's first name Peggy, Peggy is a variant of Margaret.

James Martin, baptised: 26 MAR 1802 Perranarworthal, Cornwall, England, parents: James and Peggy.

*Added, maybe the above isn't yours as I found this marriage: James Martin to Peggy Taylor, 25/6/1793 Perranarworthal, Cornwall, England

    Hi Margaret,

I notice James and Mary Ann were both entered as Sojourners on their marriage record, therefore not from the parish of Perranarworthal.

This means of course that they could have been born anywhere and not necessarily in Cornwall, unless you have evidence they were definitely from Cornwall?

    hi all
    Thankx for the responses.
I got the name Margaret Vray from the death certificate of her son James Martin.
There was a vague thought that Margaret and/or her husband (also James) came from Ireland.
You've certainly given me something to think about
One thing, where is Cornwall Haze? I tried to google, but couldnt find it, is a shortened name?
    regards margaret
