14 inch Chris...........you were lucky................lol I think ours was a 12 inch one. The ariel went up (remember the old 'H' ones ?) and I looked high and low for the tele...............lol In Mums wardrobe.....cupboards.....everywhere. Thought if we'd got the ariel the tele must be there somewhere. Didn't realise till the chap came up one night and installed it, gave Mum & Dad the instructions (BBC only.........how complicated is that!) and we sat and watched something........wish I could remember what..............lol

The first thing I saw on TV that belonged to an Aunt, was the Coronation in 1953!

Hi Mary,

I remember a house full of family and we all ate sandwiches afraid to miss anything. When I think about it, it must have been small and was in a cabinet with doors.. very posh to us. After that we used to call on our Aunt (never married) every Saturday night to watch a variety show but I can't remember the name of it.

You can have as many tv channels as you like, but you can't beat radio 2. Ken Bruce is brilliant! And so is The Old Woman!

The first programme I ever watched on T.V was the FA Cup final played between Arsenal and Liverpool, which Arsenal won 2-0. It was on a neighbour's T.V and they were the only ones in our street who had one. I nearly got thrown out before it had begun, when asked by 'Pop' Griffiths an elderly neighbour, who I wanted to win, I piped up 'Arsenal', he never let me forget that one until his dying day, lol. Mind you I was only four years old at the time....

No it doesn't make you a TOG, Mary!! And yes, I do like Wogan, although he does go on a bit, and the Janet and John stories are funny! I remember reading them in school!
