If only I had £8.00. on me this morning when I went on to my local market where I saw this beautiful wooden Jewlery Box in solid wood. Inscribed on the box was the words Childhood Memories, I opened the lid and inside the lid was three photo frames which covered the whole of the underside lid, one frame was oval shaped, one was square shaped and the other frame heart shaped, I would have really liked that box
I bet someone's bought it now though. ![]() |

You know, I've often seen things like that in our local Pannier Market. They remind of growing up. Sometimes I'll him and haw over whether to but them or not, and then by the time I've decided someone else has done it.
I saw this lovely rag doll once, and it reminded me of one I'd had when I was about 8. I wish I'd bought it there and then, but I didn't, and when I went back it'd gone. ![]() |

I suppose we've all missed opportunities at some time. About 15yrs ago I was at a market and saw a 'Bayko' set for sale, Bayko was my favourite childhood toy - well I didn't buy it and always regretted it as it was a big set, boxed and in near perfect condition and not that expensive. A couple of years ago I thought about the opportunity I'd missed and decided to look on e-bay for a set, only to find they were rather expensive if you wanted a set in good condition. Bayko for those too young to remember it was a house building set, best described as a precursor to Lego, but it was more technical.
What a shame you didn't have enough money on you Pauline, but do go back to the market as it may still be unsold. And Flood you made the same mistake as me, but you never know we may find our desirables in the future |

Yes I'm going to do that Slizzy, who knows I may even pick up one of the child's 3 wheeler bikes with the roll up lid on the back, you know the ones, they looked like bread bins and you filled it up with dolls or bricks, I saw the same bicycle on an advert for Scottish widows insurance on the tv the other day. It took me back to the 50's era.
I doubt very much if I'd be able to get my knees under the handle bars now. ![]() |

Oh slizzy...........Bayko building.............yes I loved it. Never had it myself though (oh times were hard) but a boy down our street had every conceivable toy there was and we all used to go round to play there and out came the Bayko...............lego has nothing on the old Bayko in my book. Don't know why they stopped making it.
As for the Childhood Memories Box...............oh I'd love one like Pauline described but there's nothing to stop us all concocting out own is there. Depending on the size (how big are your memories?) a shoe box or some other box, painted or covered with fabric or wallpaper................letters from local craft shop.............there you have it !!! Mind you...........not sure when I'll get around to doing mine..............nice idea for a little project though and a good one for keeping your kids 'memories' in. Old photos of toys they used to play with etc. I know my kids would love it. I did a folder of what was going on in the world the year my son was born (1968) and he loved it. Piccys of toys, all sorts. |

Its a bit like Lego.............there's a base with holes around the sides for metal spokes to be put at intervals. The Bayko bricks then slide down between the spokes to create a wall and it sort of goes on from there...........I'm sure slizzy will correct me if my memory is a bit vague............been a long time since I played with them...........lol
