And now for the other end of the world. And don't tell me you are jealous as I would even love to have your winds at the moment and that's saying something as I hate wind.

Last 2 days have been over 40c. Hardly any breeze at all. It's so stifling hot that you can't eat or sleep or think. And breathing is difficult. Sunday they are predicting 44c and that's in Sydney who get a bit of a sea breeze. I'm about 30 miles inland near the foot of the Blue Mountains and our temperatures can get as much as 10c higher than Sydney so I am not looking forward to Sunday at all. God I hope the weather bureau is wrong as usual. And no rain in sight.

The fires in Victoria have been burning for over 7 weeks now with no end in sight. The ski resort of Thredbo is under severe threat as the fires have crossed the border and are only 12km from Thredbo. Tourists have been evacuated out of Thredbo they have even used helicopters to herd walkers out of the area. Only a few residents remaining in Thredbo to hopefully protect their property.

When are these stupid Greenies going to realize that off season backburning is essential to stopping these firestorms that we are experiencing. Nearly all the fires are all starting in National Parks and they won't let the Fire Service in to backburn during the cooler weather to reduce the amount of fuel on the ground. And National Parks and Wildlife Service are hopeless and only do token backburns.

The National Park near me has not had a backburn in over 35 years, God help us if a fire gets in there. The National Park where I used to live has not had a backburn for about the same amount of time. If a fire gets in there they will not stop it until it reaches Newcastle. That's about a 2 hour drive from where the National Park starts.

Animals rarely get injured in a backburn. But at the moment thousands are dying as they either can't escape the fire or are dying of starvation as there is no food for them.

You all say you would like it warmer. It's not all it's cracked up to be. Getting warm is not hard, getting cool is impossible. If too many people use air conditioners they tend to overload the system and no one has power to even run a fan. God I would love air conditioning.
