Can someone get me motivated back into my family tree ????? I'd 'shelved' it before Christmas promising myself I'd have a real good go at it come new year. Well hear we are and I've done nothing ! Well, checked a few names out and updated some info I've been given but nothing really like I should.
What can I do to get really into it again ????? Or does anyone else feel like this ? |

Do you know, Mary, that's exactly how I feel !
I had planned to get back to the tree long before this, and pick it up where I left off before Christmas, charging ahead looking things up and finding things out and being full of enthusiasm about making a new start in a new year. The reality is that I come up to the computer and sit here and faff about. First I have to check my emails. And get rid of the latest batch of spam. Then I remember those interesting web addresses that I took a note of from the paper this morning, but they're downstairs, aren't they, so I go down and get them, and make a second trip to pick up the right pair of glasses. It's usually a waste of time since the sites aren't that interesting after all, so I probably then log in here. Not ready for the Treemaker yet, though, that's scary after a couple of weeks off, but I always like to check out the new posts, so I do that. I might do the hunger site and the breast cancer clicks while I'm reminded, and although I really havn't time to play games, I might just take a wee peep to see what's new there. All this takes up quite a bit of time, and I have things to do downstairs, so better look at the Tree. Well, it hasn't grown since I last looked, and those names are still in the wrong place, and you know what ? I don't actually feel like tackling it just at the moment. I go over to GR, because it's still on there, but that doesn't inspire me either. So I decide to leave it till tomorrow. And tomorrow, and tomorrow. And it's not just the family tree, either. There's all sorts of stuff I should be doing - replying to emails, writing to people, paying things and so on, and I just can not get going ! So I definitely need kicking. But if you come up with any other solution, Mary, do please pass it on ! anny. |

Glad its not just me Anny. My day seems to go a bit like yours...........lol Have a list of 'stuff to do' then log on.......check e mails, come on here, grab something of the internet for the History Board, bung a poem on if brain allows it..........check genes if I can be bothered cos nothings ever on there ........grab coffee and have ciggie. List of 'stuff to do' still sitting there. Family tree lists of 'folk I want to find' , bits of info or more like 'half info' that needs adding to, stuff needs printing off and I'm out of ink and bought wrong cartridge; not to mention all the resolutions I made that have gone out the window.........maybe its just because its January. We all start off thinking we'll have a fresh start and be really organised and the truth is by the time the decs come down we can't be bothered. House is dusty, skies are grey and who gives a whotsit. = that sort of feeling. Ho hum..........tomorrow is another day...................lol We'll get there. Maybe February will make it happen.
