Default Kick me please !!

Can someone get me motivated back into my family tree ????? I'd 'shelved' it before Christmas promising myself I'd have a real good go at it come new year. Well hear we are and I've done nothing ! Well, checked a few names out and updated some info I've been given but nothing really like I should.
What can I do to get really into it again ?????
Or does anyone else feel like this ?

Do you know, Mary, that's exactly how I feel !
I had planned to get back to the tree long before this, and pick it up where I left off before Christmas, charging ahead looking things up and finding things out and being full of enthusiasm about making a new start in a new year.
The reality is that I come up to the computer and sit here and faff about.
First I have to check my emails. And get rid of the latest batch of spam. Then I remember those interesting web addresses that I took a note of from the paper this morning, but they're downstairs, aren't they, so I go down and get them, and make a second trip to pick up the right pair of glasses. It's usually a waste of time since the sites aren't that interesting after all, so I probably then log in here. Not ready for the Treemaker yet, though, that's scary after a couple of weeks off, but I always like to check out the new posts, so I do that.
I might do the hunger site and the breast cancer clicks while I'm reminded, and although I really havn't time to play games, I might just take a wee peep to see what's new there.
All this takes up quite a bit of time, and I have things to do downstairs, so better look at the Tree. Well, it hasn't grown since I last looked, and those names are still in the wrong place, and you know what ? I don't actually feel like tackling it just at the moment. I go over to GR, because it's still on there, but that doesn't inspire me either. So I decide to leave it till tomorrow. And tomorrow, and tomorrow.
And it's not just the family tree, either. There's all sorts of stuff I should be doing - replying to emails, writing to people, paying things and so on, and I just can not get going !
So I definitely need kicking. But if you come up with any other solution, Mary, do please pass it on !

Glad its not just me Anny. My day seems to go a bit like yours...........lol Have a list of 'stuff to do' then log on.......check e mails, come on here, grab something of the internet for the History Board, bung a poem on if brain allows it..........check genes if I can be bothered cos nothings ever on there ........grab coffee and have ciggie. List of 'stuff to do' still sitting there. Family tree lists of 'folk I want to find' , bits of info or more like 'half info' that needs adding to, stuff needs printing off and I'm out of ink and bought wrong cartridge; not to mention all the resolutions I made that have gone out the window.........maybe its just because its January. We all start off thinking we'll have a fresh start and be really organised and the truth is by the time the decs come down we can't be bothered. House is dusty, skies are grey and who gives a whotsit. = that sort of feeling. Ho hum..........tomorrow is another day...................lol We'll get there. Maybe February will make it happen.

It's true, you get really into it, go so far and then seem to give in. Sometimes it feels like a lot of hard work!! Good to know where you came from though.

Thumbs up Re: Kick me please !!

Couldn't agree more Chris, pre computer, the times I went that little bit further in the Central Library .... somehow I miss that buzz ... couldn't book my next session quick enough.

Tell me about it. Before I got my computer I didn't have anything on my ancestors. Now because of all of you I've found them! Going two hundred years back!!

I think we all get the same and need some motivation to get back to the family searches! All I can say is thank goodness we have AA and this side of it which gives us fun and relaxation.

Hi Mary,

You want some motivation and also something that is achieveable this year. How about those telephone numbers and zip codes for Pendereds in Alaska

P.S - No I can't pay for the telephone calls or stamps.

...and I was so looking forward to tramping round Northants graveyards in the rain & the wind looking for Pendereds. And now I find you are too busy hibernating to send me the names...
