DQ was asking me yesterday what Christmas was like when I was her age...lol. I was the youngest of 6 and sometimes when my brothers and sisters had outgrown games mum would put them away safe and I would get them for Christmas. My favourite dolls' cot and pram came from a cousin. Dad restored them both and they looked great. I was so excited at getting them..
We always only got one big pressy and a few little things.

Christmas? Christamas?
Please, please, please don't mention that word yet!

Well, actually I quite like the last minute stuff. It's fun joining in with all the hussle and bussle of last minute shoppers.

It's really funny when you see everybody getting irate! Ooh, I'm horrible sometimes, lol.

We always gave the kids one "main" pressy, and a few wee ones. Santa filled their stockings but they always knew who gave them their actual presents, so they knew who to thank. I suppose I was following the traditions of my own family, vastly different from my husband's Scottish ones, which were much more concerned with the New year.
The stockings were great fun. Always polished pennies in the toe, and an apple and a tangerine, and then lots and lots of little quirky things all wrapped in crunchy paper, and comics and colouring books and crayons, all that sort of thing. My grandchildrens' stockings are stuffed with much more expensive and sophisticated items, I notice.

I had every intention of being well sorted and literally wrapped up by now (having started in January) but then keep thinking of joke/cheap/novel stuff I can do and it sort of takes over........I've got door hangers half done, 365 quotes to cut up and put in a jar, pair of baby socks, camouflage design to fill with lavender for teenage grandson to put in his trainers at night -keep his feet smelling sweet, not to mention the 'stuff' I got from the charity shops that currently covers the spare bed waiting to be put into gift baskets and shoe boxes............eeek.............got 5 shoe boxes to cover !!!!!!!!!!!!!

(AKA Mary)

How beautiful it is to do nothing and rest afterwards...

OMG Christmas. My lot are getting money or vouchers this year because I will forget someone......or even more than one . The thought of shopping is quite daunting as well. All those crowds of people. Used to enjoy it before I got sick........kinda......lol 5 kids and their parnters/spouses 8 grandchildren plus partner of one of them. 1 ggrandchild and another ggrandchild due before Christmas and before then I have 7 birthdays before Christmas including my own.................oh woe is me lol. Can't afford a lot this year anyway. I have been on the sick now for 14 months so theres nowt in the bank any more. Hope they understand...........lol
