Anyone hear the Budget ? I didn't (too busy having my arm wrenched at physio) but got wildly excited when someone mentioned free bus travel through the uk for pensioners. Yippee !!!!

I thought -the world (or almost) is my oyster ! Then I checked on bbc. web site and this won't happen until April 2008 !! Fags on the other hand go up tomorrow ! How can they do that ? Make us pay more straight away for stuff but if its the other way round and they're giving us something we have to wait for it. ?

Cigs up, Booze up, Road Tax Up.

Of the "giveaways" - Child Benefit doesn't affect me anymore and neither will the Inheritance Tax Threshold.

Personal Allowance is up but only worth £30.80 per year or £0.59 per week.

As you said everything up is straight away and most of the "giveaways" are staggered over several years.
