Day one

Sunday) Start driving off to Scotland............car begins to vibrate..........Bill pulls off the road, not sure whats up. Ring RAC..........engine ok but he checks all the wheels and one of them is really bulging............would have blown ! Goes to boot to get spare............find that garage has, for some reason, given us a spare wheel for another car !!!!!! So, RAC man says he can't do 'recovery' as were supposed to check these things ! Didn't know that. So he takes us to nearest town......Castleford............to Kwik Fit. They haven't got the tyre we want so send us somewhere else. They haven't got it either but can get one for Monday morning ! Bum ! says I (Bill said much worse!) so we order one and go off to try and find somewhere to stay the night............end up at Travel lodge.........room plus food £70 !!!! Tyre £47 which we got next morning. All this expense and we aint even got to Scotland !
Day two: (Monday) Go to garage.........surly faced bloke changes tyre and off we go getting stuck in traffic on motorway at Carlisle in pouring rain. By this time well fed up !
Arrive in Scotland at 5pm !!! (left Castlleford at 11am).....I mutter something about another time taking train !
Day three (Tuesday) Wedding ! Bill tried on kilt............bit wary of showing knees - but he looked really good...............'Cry freedom' says I..........Mel Gibson eat your heart out. (I worse purple skirt cream top and jacket)
Lovely wedding. String orchestra playing.........just bride and groom and brides two boys.
Photos outisde lovely old manor house then really superb meal. Back to bride and grooms flat and very late night !
Day four (Wed) Bit of sightseeing in the area round little town..........have to go on day when its half day closing !! Got postcards and sent them so done my 'tourist' bit.
Day five(Today) come home..........leave at half nine...........traffic no problem, two pee and coffee stops, home at 5pm..................worn out. Bill now gone for pint and I've got one lad back already having a right moan and the other due any minute !!!

Verdict : Glad I went in the end despite sticky start Scotland is really lovely but I aint half glad I took a woolly jumper...................lol

ROFPMSL......................it's only God trying to keep the Sassenachs out................you had no probs coming back did you Sorry just kidding mate. Thats what I'm like when i'm trying to get to Liverpool.
Glad it all worked out in the end and you had a good time. You must post a pic of Bills knees......I mean kilt..lol

The world aint ready for Bills knees Mollie...............only hand picked peeps like us at the wedding, oh and photographer,. string quarter, waitress and the American tourists who took photos so now he'll be all over North Dakota................lol
As for keeping the Sassenachs out............well be a while before I go back without entire winter wardrobe and a ticket for the train.................lol

Hey but if you didnt have all that excitement on your travels......how would you have been able to write a poem about it?!?!? ( I pmsl @ poem)

Glad you had a really good time in the end!

Give my love to Bill.....and bring those photos to next meet up ......pmsl....or he could even wear his kilt for us!
