    Default Llansawel

Seeking contact with anyone connected with the following farms in the Llansawel area: Pantiauau, Brocen, Wion and Acheddganol. In 1841 Ann Lewis (widow) was living at Pantiauau with two single daughters, Anna and Rachel. Soon after Anna married Thomas Jones, a labourer working on the farm. One of their sons, Lewis, moved to Port Talbot and he was my great grandfather. Much family history to share.

    John.

Hi, i live in south wales and i have lewis' in my tree too. My grandfather was called William (Buckland) Lewis and he was born in ystradgynlais in 1903 to a Sarah Jane Morgan (born 1876) and John Lewis (born 1868) Johns mother i believe was Sarah Buckland and its very possible Johns Father may have come from merthyr but as yet cant figure it out. His name may have been William. Would be such a piece of luck if we were after the same family

    regards lisa

I am present researching a family who owned the property known as Penybaily. The family were Davies, who were shown as being there from 1871 until at least 1911. Does anyone have further information. A photograph would be of great help.

Watkin Davies was one of the first Parish Councillors in 1894.

    d. 22nd Jan.1947 at Swansea. The farm property was sold to W. and J. Griffiths on Nov.27th. 1911.
