Thank you so much Brian, This is excellent information about William,my great uncle. My mum is83 and still wonders what happened to him and I promised I would try and find information about him and any family he may have had. This is so useful! I hope I can take this further now, although Canada is a big place I did find the ship he was a passenger on to canada and a possible area he was in when around20 years old. Thank you againxx

    Hi
I am not convinced that Sarah Tansley married James Green. Edward, their son is born in 1897. Her first husband, did not die until 1899. There was quite an age difference in her first marriage. But will still look for marriage if you want me too.

This is where we got confused until received more info. Matthew Tansey was married to Mary Wright for 50 years until she diedThey I beieve had I son called Matthew, who we originally believed to be my great grandfather..Matthew senior, then married a young Sarah Goode who would have been about 24. Yes such a big gap. we don't know the circumstances. They had the children you stated but Matthew senior ended up in the work house in London Road, Hinckley. This may have been seasonal because farmers often sent to the workhouse in the winter. My grandfather Thomas Tansey was in there too. He ran away to his uncle but was forced to run behiind a horse and buggy all the way back to the workhouse. Perhaps Edward was born out of wedlock?
