    Default John Earnshaw STOTT

My g grandfather John Earnshaw Stott (1845) through family beliefs came to Australia in the gold rush. He disappears from UK records after the 1861 census and reappears with the 1881 census. Does anyone have ideas how I might research this 20 year gap.
    Regards John

    Hi there.

There is a John E. Stott, aged 23, who arrived in Melbourne, Victoria, on 6 January 1869 per 'Hydrabad'. It sailed from Liverpool. The 'Hydrabad' was a 1,339 ton ship owned by Bright Bros. & Co. and on this voyage was mastered by Capt. R. Jones.
