Hi
From Scotlandsplaces.gov on Google:
Parish Lismore and Appin
Description
A parish in Argyll until 1975. It was sometimes known as Kilmaluag parish. The island and parish of Appin was annexed into the island and parish of Lismore in 1661. A medieval parish and a parish for both civil and religious purposes from the sixteenth century until 1975. The boundaries of the civil parish were altered by the Boundary Commissioners in 1891.
Does this answer the question?

Hi macca 1973 and welcome,
Have you seen this site oldappin.com.
Have looked for your Duncan but without any success. Was his father called Pharlane?
What information do you have so far.
Hi
Have you looked on Scotlands People? There are 9 Duncan McFarlane's born in Lismore parish between 1768 and 1772. None actually in 1770.

Macca,
Would this be your fellow in 1841?
Duncan Mcfarlan(no e)65 born Kilfinnan Argyll a fisherman,
Mary McFarlan 45
Juliet Mc Farlan 10
Adress STone
EDI page 12, 380,parish no 518.
There are others but none fit as well.
What occupation did he have when he was in Glasgow?
It looks as if he was twice married perhaps?
There are these baptisms in Hilipoll Argyll.
Duncan McPharlin Argyll tyree between1766 and 1774!
Donald Mc Pharlin son to Duncan Mc Pharlin and catherine Mc Clean in Heylipol Argyll Tyree Jan 1767
John Mc Farlane son ofDuncan Mc Farlane of Helipoll Argyll Oct 1771
James , son to Duncan Mc Farlane of Helipoll Argyll 08 Dec 1773
And there is a John Mac Farlane , a shepherd, born Kilfinnan Argyll aged 74 with wife mary in Argyll in 1851(possible brother of the Duncan born in same place as seen in 1841 census above.
Now if you look on www.familysearch.org and put Duncan MacFarlane into the search box with place Argyll. you will get lists of Duncan MacFarlanes. have a root through and see if you can find a marriage.
