Thread: Free Records Project Update

Hi all,



The Free Records Project has now been confirmed. This thread is an update of the following thread:

The project will be started later in the year and will include the following:

1. Type of Records: This will be announced upon its launch. We have decided on what we will be transcribing but are not letting on just yet.
   
   
   
2. Any member interested in transcribing the records are to apply via this thread.
   
3. All transcribers will receive a password from AA Administration which will allow them access to a private area of the site. Within this area will be a form where they will be able to enter each of the transcription records and click upload so that each record goes directly into the database. This will speed up the process of getting more free records online and searchable.
   
4. The actual database will not be able to be searched untill we have a good start state on the number of records. Its launch will probably be at around 100,000 records.
   
5. Any member that offers to help will be asked to supply their home address in order that a CD of records can be sent to them to transcribe. The address WILL NOT be used for anything else and will remain STRICTLY PRIVATE.

On the other thread we had a great number of people who offered to help. The idea of this thread is to confirm this.

This thread will remain open for the next 3 - 4 months after which all those who wish to help will be contacted and more details will be given on how we will proceed.
