    Default fustration corner

    dear admin,

would it be good idea to have a frustration corner (possibly next to results board) because..

sometimes when you are collating info and your getting many snippets concerning or unknowingly not concerning your relatatives you begin to go around and around in circles in an attempt to put an area of your chart/tree to bed especially in my case (theres buckley's everywhere, and i'm just searching cheshire area for now, (same first name, same second names, birth years similar, marriage between names as in first name, i could go on and on (as you can see )...

so instead of just asking for look ups.

you put info you have found and then ask if any one could come up with relative answers

bit like pieces of a puzzle given with no picture on box

and i know the peeps on here like a good mystery

    what do you think?

    your thankfully

    Hi,

Can you elaborate a little more on exactly what you require. i.e is it a seperate forum, if so, what should it be called and what description should it have.

    Kindest regards

    dear admin,

    thnx for reponse

    senario:

person (A) is loking for a particular person i.e. great great grand father, and he finds that as he's collating evidence and all is looking fine he stubbles across coflicting evidence caused by the fact that there are more than one person with the same name and roughly same age and district (in fact this could be another relative that he has not yet chased up) so he pursues this as well not wishing to discount anything and hoping to tie up loose ends, the trouble is person (A) is gradually getting bogged down with too much info and in realising this puts a draft of his info in a post to highlight his frustration.

person (B) reads post and after a bit of a think and a delve comes up with which of the 2 would in fact deffinately be the posters great great grandfather.(like solving a mystery or who done it)

person (A) can now carry forward in pursuit of other relatives safe in the knowledge he/she is on the right track.

how this would be different than just lookups is the fact that the poster has already exhausted lookups and records etc (ie put the work in).

so the forum area would be called frustration corner with 2 subsections one called who done it or case files (if you like or whatever, i'm sure someone could come up with a good title ) and the second subsection a thankyou and case closed part in recognition of all the sherlock holme's out there

hopefully i'm clear on what i say

ps theres a samual buckley case in waiting, now wheres d watson

rethink: perhaps frusration corner (thread) goes into geanlogy help area and results (thread) is put in there also (if that makes it easier)

    Hi Bronking,

In my tree, I have a person that was born under one name and after a crime took on the name of his brother-in-laws father when he died. No where can a marriage be found to the name given as his wifes children. Did she have an alias too ? A brother also changed his name on one census but was still with the family. After that census there is no trace under any name or a record of death.

Is this anything like the idea you have ?

    hmm sort of not really

you seem to know whats happened and the reasons why you cannot go further with that branch of your tree,

    what i mean is...

Samuel Buckley (test case) this all happens in cheshire predominatly northwich and lostock area

I have a samuel buckley in my family tree born abt 1802 ish

he married (i believe a mary)

possibly there oldest daughter was ann buckley born abt1828

there youngest was aaron born abt1839

mary married again in 1846 in davenham, cheshire she used her previous married name (buckley) she married dennis webster

a samuel buckley died in 1841

another samuel buckley died in 1845

another samuel buckley died in 1846

another samuel buckley married a mary chesworth in 1838 v19 pge153

another samuel buckley married a mary chesworth in 1845 v19 pge193

a samuel buckley married jane holford in 1837

now one should never assume but i'm hoping that the samuel i'm looking for married mary before 1828 but i don't have records, then he died in mid 40's guessing 45 give mary enough time to grieve and marry dennis in 46, and that would tie up nicely or..

were they never married until 1838 after having a few kids or...

in 1845 because samuel knew he was dieing and the will was better that way or..

    what do you think....

    Hi Bronking,

You say you have exhausted all records but if Aaron was born C1839 obtaining his Birth certificate will not only give you his correct date of birth but also his mothers name. You will then know for certain if it is Mary.

The deaths of the Samuels - have you checked the death certificates to find their ages at death ?

If you have managed to Find Samuels father the marriage certificates will show if they are possible matches or can be discounted altogether.

I don't quite understand why this can't just go on the request help board? (or am I being stupid). Or the most wanted board maybe? Frustrations are everywhere!! The trouble is when there are too many boards people miss seeing things they might otherwise help with.

    Hi Gillian/Bronking,

Maybe I am being stupid as well. The first time I looked at the example I spent quite some time looking at it and then becoming frustrated myself I left it.

The following morning still being annoyed with myself I went back. If it had been split up into seperate lookups I don't think I would have given up so easily. I know I don't get much time for doing lookups at the moment but would everyone else look and give up as well.

I might have it all wrong Bronking if I have please say but wouldn't it be better to get a little help on these at a time than people giving up on them at first glance ?
