Thread: Gedcom Files!

HELP PLEASE, I'M STUCK!!



I have tried to upload my Gedcom file onto the site but although I've tried twice, I can't find it



I'm gathering this is because I've been unsuccessful? I've tried exporting the Gedcom from a Family Tree Maker Disc as I didn't want to try exporting from my Genes tree as I read that other people had problems with it.



Any suggestions?

I've got trees listed on Genes, Tribalpages & Ancestry.com. I also have a private tree listed on a "Family tree maker" CD-ROM. Having read the problems others have found with exporting Gedcoms from Genes, I thought I'd try to export my tree from Tribalpages, but I don't think it worked. So, I thought I'd try exporting it from the CD-ROM, but again I don't think this worked as I can't find it listed in AA Tree Maker??



So yes, so far I have registered for the Tree Maker, I went through the process of trying to upload my Gedcom but when I then went looking for it.........I can't find it, so I don't know if it's uploaded or not?



If I'm coming across abit thick.............I'll blame it on the Baileys on New Years Eve!

Hi Waks,



You need to know where you saved it to on your computer, say, My Documents for example. Then login to your Tree Maker account and select the import Gedcom feature. Click on Browse and navigate the new window to where the gedcom file is stored on your machine. Once found click on the file once (so the name shows in the bottom) and click Open followed by Submit. Your gedcom will then start to upload. Be patient as it may take a while depending on the speed of your internet connection.

I've tried that, as you can tell, it didn't take long! After it's supposedly finished uploading, it then asks if I want to Build my tree manually or if I want to create a tree with a Gedcom file? That's when I have problems finding my tree??
