Thread: nearest cemetary location

dear admin,

would it be a good idea to have a cemetary list with a member nearest to each (each member could put their particular nearest cemetary to them) so that instead of asking on gen board if anybody lives near and hoping for best they can look at list and if its there they could ask that particular member if they could look and transcribe or photograph details.



this would be a great way of people who may struggle to find researchs, putting a little back in the kitty

Also, if you visit a graveyard you could also try to transcribe as many graves as possible and add them to the Memorial Inscription thread!



I know that some of the graveyards I've visited are massive...and it is time consuming transcribing graves that do not belong to "your tree" ...but, even if it only a doaen or so, it could prove useful to someone...lol......especially our overseas friends!!



Inscriptions also give more additional information than the "Indexes of burials" ....I found an "extra" family member the other day from the inscriptions!

We already have a forum for graveyards & war memorial requests. I can't see why anyone interested can't add to this forum as it is little used.

I mean each (willing) member to add their name to their nearest cemetary, the list could be located somewhere (maybe a sticky) so that b4 they ask generally in hope they could possibly seek out a member on the list, (if of course the cemetary in question is on the list)



just a thought!

Perhaps the graveyard & memorial forum could be moved to the Help area? Then it might be better used & there could be a thread on it with a cemetery list as suggested by Bronking.

Sounds good to me and to use forum as Star said not hardly used,,plus move to help area, Then Bronking could set it up as a sticky, please bear with me as to when jon can move it.
