Thread: Requesting Help and/or look ups

I have noticed over the past few weeks that new peeps are adding to Surname Interests...but also requesting help at the same time. I have done a few of them...but my fear is that some may go "astray"?!?!



Could there be some kind of reminder on each Surname Interest Board..that to request a look up or help...it be posted on relevant board???



does that make sense?? lol



I do think that more peeps will be able to help if the requests were posted on correct board... no dis to new members lol...they finding way around..But... oh i dont know...i rambling now...but do you get the jist???

I do see what you are saying but one of the points to the surnames of interests boards is for exactly that, it is a surname that the poster is intereted in and also looking for more information on.



Its not that we need to move or edit the posts., but what we do need to try and do is find a way to stop the post from going astray.

Basically the posts they are doing are fine and the Request Help forum is for specific help required.

I will have to have a think about how we can prevent the posts from going astray. But, like I said, I do see your point.

I have also now added a little not to the surname forum description that posters are also advised to use the request help forum for a better response.

Hi I hold me hand up as being one of the guilty ones posting in the surnames, as John says I posted there

as im looking for info on specific surnames plus as I get more info on them surnames ie BDM's, Cencus and GRO's

ect I will be adding it to the surname posts I made, which might then help others reserching the same surnames.

weras if I had posted in the help section the the posts would prob be just an old post in amongst so many other

posts by now

Don't forget to post your surnames of interest in the surname forum which can be found at the top of the home page. If everyone does this, people will then see who else is researching the same names and in what areas.
