If you are not happy with g...r then can you cancel sub and get a refund? You can with some sites. But if you want to persevere then try
putting a name in to a search box and see if any matches with name/d.o.b/ place come up. Other people may be doing your tree and they may have valuable information but check everything out. There were some very helpful folk on there when I used it.
What seems to be the problem you are having?
One person's experience may not match another's but I did make contact with two people who had thoroughly researched a branch of my tree where I was completely stuck.
If it is census and BDM's you want then other sites are, perhaps, more complete.
It's a case of" horses for courses".

Pays yer money and takes yer chance as they say..So many sites etc. out there claiming to have the largest search data-base. Most are pay to view but some free ones are very good at giving you snippets of info, I will always do a test by putting a well researched name in their box to see how they perform...One very well known site in particular is good at keeping you guessing,
This is one of several genealogy forums i am a member of and has in my opinion great potential to grow..The ability to request and exchange information thus by-passing commercial sites is a godsend, not only for researching, Friends are made and just even browsing can gain you valuable knowledge and insights into the past.

It is through a forum very similar to this that i was luckily enough to discover part of my family i did not know existed and open up an active link, it may have not been this site but no matter its proof that these forums are important and do work...

Thank you so much for the response, I asked for cancellation of my contract as I only opened it that morning, I had a reply today stating that I had used their services and sent one message, I had to continue for the whole year, Live and hopefully learn,
Please accept my apoligises for not answering sooner as hospital appointments take up a lot of time, will persevere,

Sorry to hear that you couldn't get a refund. That's not good. Still you can try it out . Start a tree on it with just a few names and see what response you get.
Shame to waste it.
