    Default Site Problems

Still having the same problems I reported 21st July, I don't actually mind who owns the site and really don't feel we as members have to be consulted, though I would have thought the moderators might have been told just out of old fashioned courtesy. Well done mods for trying to keep the ship afloat.

    Any sign of a repairman?

Anyone know why I can not post a thread? Is this a site problem anybody else is experiencing? I can type the title but not the body of the thread. Obviouusly I can also make a reply.

    jcoltee,
It must be a Canada thing! I'm in the same neck of the woods and can't remember how many times I have repied to threads, only to be told I'm not logged in, go back , log in blah blah blah. I do it all over again, possibly several times and sometimes I manage to get it done. Frustrating to say the least!
Maybe its because I'm not the fastest typist?

My biggest problem with the site is the games which seem to be taking over. This is supposed to be a Family History site, not a gaming site. I realize that some people may enjoy them but could they be put into a separate section away from the serious stuff ? Then - those people who want the games would not be distracted by Family History and theose who want Family History would not be distracted by the games.

Hi Brunobel what's the problem. I personally think It is someimes good to get awy from the "serious stuff" and have a bit of light hearted relief. To me you just scroll down the posts & if you don't want games don't stop on them.

Sorry pejay but I have to agree with Brunobel sometimes when I visit the site there is nothing but games, I too would like to see them off the front page.

    Hi!

Obviously we can ignore the games if we want to. My biggest bugbear with them is because the "New Posts" are cleared on such a regular basis as Astoria says, sometime the New Posts page is practically filled with games posts.

I have never understood the need for the New Posts page to cleared as frequently as it is. It does mean that many posts will be missed by those that can only visit the site in the evenings. I now keep a note of the posts I am following so I can search them out but it isn't possible to search through every forum every day for new posts - I simply do not have the time.

I agree with the comments about the games. I think they should be in a separate area.

True pejay, I enjoy a bit of 'light relief' as much as anyone but if I want to play a game I go to a recognized gaming site, not a Family History site. I am not suggesting that the games such be removed, just separated.
